Propiedades psicomtricas de la escala de procrastinacin acadmica en universitarios chilenos
Abstract
The present study aims to describe the psychometric properties of the academic procrastination scale (EPA) in a sample of 600 Chilean university students. The scope of the study is instrumental in a cross-sectional non-experimental design. The analyses include both using descriptive statistics for the items and assessing the reliability of the scale. A confirmatory factor analysis is conducted to verify the goodness of fit of three models. The results show that the best indicators are in a model of two related factors of a shortened scale version of 12 items (X2=238.815, gl=53, p<.001; CFI=.968; TLI=.961; RMSEA=.057). The reliability is adequate, having Ï McDonaldâs reliability levels of 0.832 and 0.782 in factor 1 and 2 respectively. It is concluded that the 12-item academic procrastination scale with two related factors show favorable psychometric properties, which ratifies its use in universities to assess the presence of academic procrastination.
