3D-printed flat lens antennas for Ka band
Abstract
The use of 3D printed technology for designing wideband flat lenses for Ka band is explored in this work. Two types of lenses are analyzed, both with wideband characteristic in the Ka band. The design of these graded index lenses is made using different commercial filaments and playing with different infill percentages always taking into account as well mechanical limitations. Simulations are made considering the detailed manufacturing models and commercial filaments by importing the exact replica of the antenna to be manufactured. A study of their performance when scanning the beam is also presented. Some prototypes have been manufactured and measured showing an excellent performance including low loss characteristic in this high frequency band.
