Adaptation and psychometric analysis of the Positive Youth Development Scale-Short Form (PYD-SF) in Adolescents from Northern Chile
Abstract
This study aimed to adapt and analyze the psychometric properties of the Positive Youth Development Scale - Short Form (PYD-SF) in a sample of adolescents from northern Chile. A total of 369 adolescents (193 males and 176 females) with a mean age of 15 years (SD=1.7) participated in the study. The results show: 1) a fivefactor correlated structure with acceptable fit indices to the data (CFI=.920; TLI=.913; SRMR=.066; RMSEA=.074); 2) adequate internal consistency in all dimensions (alpha and omega between .77 and .89); 3) and significant correlations with other criterion constructs (self-esteem, anxiety, and depression) in four of the five dimensions of the instrument. Overall, the findings support the use of the 33-item version of the PYD-SF to assess positive development in Chilean adolescents.
