Abstract

Responding successfully to the current demands of a society that has suffered a setback as a result of the unprecedented health emergency in history requires making great efforts, therefore, this article determines the necessary leadership and management, as fundamental tools to cope with the pandemic at the Autonomous University of Temuco, Temuco Headquarters. In this order, the variable is considered as nominal, according to its purpose, it was framed within the positivist paradigm under the quantitative approach in the modality of a field type investigation, descriptive level with a non-experimental design, because it was developed with processed primary sources through the application of a survey, through a questionnaire with a Likert-type scale, which served as an instrument, for the collection of information; applied to the study population made up of seventeen (17) teachers. Among the most outstanding results is the absence of a participatory leadership style focused on a management with shared authority, with which it is concluded that for bilateral decision-making this type of leadership is necessary with knowledge, qualities and skills in their performance as negotiating managers in all the processes of the structure of the University; thus, with this managerial scheme they can broaden the horizon of thought aimed at acting collectively for the benefit of the institution, appropriating visionaries, proactive and endowed with knowledge for the positions.
