Evaluation of Dual Three-Phase Winding in Permanent Magnet Machines with Modular Stator Core
Abstract
Pairing a segmented stator core structure with dual three-phase windings in a permanent magnet machine (PMM) could translate into a high fault-tolerant machine with acceptable torque ratings. Nevertheless, the influence of the dual three-phase winding on modular permanent magnet machines (MPMMs) has not been thoroughly addressed so far. This work analyzes the torque performance of dual three-phase winding MPMMs considering different angle displacements in faultless and faulty conditions. From the results, a trade-off between torque merits in faultless conditions, torque penalization in faulty conditions, and electromagnetic/thermal insulation between modules was observed.
