WhatsApp group in the Chilean school context: characterization of the interactions between parents and guardians
Abstract
Although different researchers have used the WhatsApp application (WSP) as an object of study, there is little scientific evidence that accounts for the use and description of the interactions and themes that occur within a WhatsApp group parent of subsidized school. Therefore, the general objective of this study was to characterize the communication interactions established by primary education parents during a school year, through a group of WSP, subjecting the resulting corpus to qualitative content analysis. From the results, it is concluded that the interactions in the chat group are characterized by presenting content associated with the exchange of information, organizing joint activities and offering congratulations, coordinating actions and making decisions in front of the school. Results demonstrate that the group of WSP has the potential to support the school training process of students.
