Abstract

The objective of this study is to carry out tests autogenously to know the behavior of the variables of the rectangular wave alternating current on the cathodic cleaning, penetration and wear of the electrode. A test bench was implemented, which consists of a multiprocess welding machine, linear torch displacement system, and data acquisition system. The tests were carried out in the flat position using AA 1100 aluminum as the base material. The surface appearance and morphology of the deposits as well as the wear of the tungsten electrodes were evaluated. The main conclusions reveal that the cleaning of the oxidized layer occurs for all time levels programmed in the positive phase, but compromising the wear of the tungsten electrode. The parameters analyzed here will allow the project to continue, contributing to additive manufacturing by electric arc, using the TIG welding process with mechanized wire feeding.
