The failed visit of Francis to Chile and the Catholic Church crisis.
Abstract
The most controversial visit in the pontificate of Pope Francis was not expect- ed to occur precisely in a predominantly Catholic Latin American country. The visit of Pope Francis took place from January 15th to 18th of 2018, 30 years after the visit of Pope John Paul II. In spite of the massive turnout of faithful followers, vast media coverage and the tour throughout several regions of the country, despite the short duration of the stay, this visit was marked by controversy, reflecting the crisis of the Catholic Church in Chile and in the world.
