Abstract

In the paper an integrated proposal is described that guides decision makers in identify and select the best maintenance solution strategy to follow when problems occur. The aim of the integration, inspired by the Theory of Inventive Problem Solving, and specifically by the body knowledge of identification problem such as RCA technique. A several steps procedure has been formulated to systematically structure the problem context, in specific, elicitation problem, classification and generation of partial solutions in order to assess the potential effects in maintenance strategy by using TRIZ principles. A case study has been developed to test the integration effectiveness and usability, in collaboration with the Mining Chilean company CODELCO-DMH, one of the newest mining companies in Chile. The results demonstrate the usefulness of the integration to support decision makers in correctly implementing the identified problem solutions within the company.
