Abstract

Reinforcing the importance of the health role of school facilities, and particularly of the physical education classroom, from the perspective of promoting health and the acquisition of healthy and physical activity habits, is critical. This is especially relevant in the wake of the indirect consequences that have been experienced in recent years as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, this article is an invitation to reformulating the strategies for coping with the consequences of the pandemic, which resulted in new figures of sedentary lifestyles, overweight, obesity and mental health problems. It is crucial to consider the individual characteristics of schoolchildren and educational facilities in order to promote healthy living and the practice of physical activity and exercise without compromising health.
