Abstract

With the aim of analyzing the main statements of G. Canguilhem's philosophy of medicine, this article contextualizes the axiological and ontological aspects involved in such arguments. This purpose is conducted considering three main areas of demarcation that allow to contextualize the meaning and scope of this philosophy: a) The disciplinary relationship that the philosophy of medicine maintains with the principles of bioethics, examining the way these principles possess to shelter an axiological discussion relative to the problems associated with life and illness; b) The philosophical -semantic space opened by the contemporary statements of the philosophy of language and its way of considering a knowledge relative to illness; c) The historical -epistemological analysis of the philosophy of medicine of G. Canguilhem's philosophy of medicine, emphasizing the examination of the axiological and ontological aspects involved in an anthropological vision of the forms of manifestation of illness.
