Abstract

This article presents a preliminary analysis that explores the transformative potential of integrating game mechanics and user interfaces into digital educational platforms, widely recognized as gamification. We focus on general aspects such as heuristic evaluations, cross-platform accessibility, aesthetic design, and strategic use of educational materials. This initial review illustrates how these elements collectively enhance the learning experience. To carry out the exercise, different educational platforms were considered, and each one was analyzed regarding its general behavior and available educational material. Through this exercise, we were able to identify the best practices that should be integrated into the development of future platforms or the improvement of the current ones. The article suggests that future comprehensive studies could further revolutionize the educational landscape by creating more adaptive and responsive learning environments by seamlessly integrating game design, pedagogy, and digital tools.
