Valparaiso Vibrations and Reverberations of Gong: tablero de arte y literatura (1930-1931). Readings from an Avant-Garde Event in Valparaiso
Keywords: valparaiso, avant-garde, Gong
Abstract
The main aim of this article is to analyze the avant-garde magazine Gong: tablero de arte y literatura (1929-1931), directed by Oreste Plath. This publication will be contextualized within the framework of the late Avant-Garde movement in ValparaÃso, considering the articulation of correspondence networks that it establishes with similar journals in Latin America (particularly with Peruvian journals). In doing thus, we will take into account some of Gongâs collaborations, among them those of Peruvian poet César Vallejo. The second part of the article will address the visual composition of Gong, by examining the techniques that are used for page design, particularly the graphic composition (Viu, Tarcus) of the name Gong throughout its issues.
