Abstract

The present invention generally relates to a process for synthesis of (2E)-1-substituted-3-([1,3]thiazolo[3,2-a]benzimidazol-3-yl)prop-2-en-1-one Chalcones dissolving a plurality of substituted ketones in 80-120 ml of 3N sodium hydroxide solution; adding [1, 3] thiazolo [3, 2-a] benzimidazole-3-carbaldehyde and stirring at room temperature for 12h; quenching the reaction mixture with ice water and extracting the product with 10-30ml ethyl acetate (EtOAc); evaporating EtOAc layer to dryness under reduced pressure and obtaining the crude product; purifying the crude product by column-chromatography with eluent ethyl acetate: hexane and evaporating the obtained column-fractions to dryness; and washing the product with n-pentane and obtaining Benzo[4,5]imidazo[2,1-b]thiazole chalcone derivatives.
