DESARROLLO DE UNA MÁQUINA PRE-FISURADORA PARA PROBETAS SE(B) EN ENSAYOS DE MECÁNICA DE FRACTURAS
Keywords: fracture mechanics, probetas en flexion en tres puntos
Abstract
This study presents the design, development, and validation of a pre-cracking device integrated into a universal lathe, intended for the preparation of SE(B) specimens for fracture mechanics testing. The implementation of this mechanism in the lathe’s tool post enables controlled crack generation. Preliminary tests were conducted on SE(B) specimens of naval propeller bronze (5x10 mm), followed by a qualitative comparative characterization against pre-cracks obtained using a servo-hydraulic universal testing machine specifically designed for this purpose. The results indicated that the developed machine meets the standard fracture mechanics criteria, demonstrating its feasibility and effectiveness for specimen preparation in advanced experimental studies. This machine currently holds a patent granted by INAPI.
