Abstract

The invention relates to a tailings treatment system for obtaining cobalt and other valuable metals through bioleaching at temperatures above ambient. To this end, the inventors have developed a bioleaching system that employs a specific consortium of microorganisms, enabling high mineral recovery from mineral-containing tailings.
