Abstract

A solution proposal is presented to develop critical thinking with the following objectives: 1) design a process to learn critical thinking through digital scientific infographics, 2) assess changes in critical thinking concepts and 3) analyze changes in student’s critical thinking elements after applying the designed process. A qualitative research methodology is applied through a case study to a sample of 90 students. Questions are made at the beginning and at the end of a course to assess changes based on Halpern's proposal. The results show that for the category “Critical Thinking Concept” the conception of “overly critical” decreases (63% to 3%) while the concepts of “learning to reason” (16% to 89%) and “solving problems” (21% to 68%) increase. It is concluded that the design of the process to learn critical thinking allows applying a pedagogical strategy that promotes quality teaching for quality learning in students.
