Abstract

This article investigates the degree to which Chilean universities have adopted governance arrangements recognized as predominant trends of change at the international level. Three university cases are examined based on the review of their internal regulations and the application of in-depth interviews with authorities and academics. The results show differences between the governance forms established in the regulations and their practical functioning. Furthermore, the findings reveal that global patterns of change have had varying degrees of influence on the studied universities. Ultimately, this article suggests future research aimed at deepening the study of governance dynamics within Chilean universities.
