Combined Methodology of MarPrime and Vibrotip for the Diagnosis of the HYUNDAI HIMSEN 9H25/33 Engine
Keywords: methodology, vibrations, technical diagnosis.
Abstract
Vibrations in reciprocating machines as internal combustion engines (ICE) arise due to periodic variation of the gas pressure in the combustion chamber, and inertia forces associated with the moving parts. In this paper, the authors intend to show a procedure to interpret the gas pressure measurement in the ICE cylinders and produce a graphical model consistent with vibration analysis developed on the same engine, in order to unify both criteria and improve the reliability of the diagnosis oriented to predictive maintenance of the engine. The equipment analyzed in this case is an ICE HYUNDAI HIMSEN 9H25/33 of nine-in-line cylinders used in Engine Power Plant in Pinar del Rio, Cuba. The gas pressure measurements and graphics were developed by mean of MarPrime technology and vibration analysis was based on Vibrotip procedure. Validation of the method exposed is based on statements of ISO 10816 and 10816 - 3 and its effect on the Plant efficiency.
