Abstract

In this study, the electrochemical dechlorination of lindane was catalyzed by a novel cobaloxime, Co(epNpgH)2Cl(py) (where epNpgH stands for (4-ethoxycarboxyl)phenylaminophenylglyoximate and py for pyridine), together with cobaloximes Co(dmgH)2Cl(py) and Co(dpgH)2Cl(py). The dechlorination kinetics were evaluated by foot-of-the-wave analysis (FOWA), which yielded catalytic rate constants of 7.7 × 103 M?1s?1 for Co(epNpgH)2Cl(py), 2.78 × 105 M?1s?1 for Co(dmgH)2Cl(py), and 4.19 × 104 M?1s?1 for Co(dpgH)2Cl(py). Furthermore, cobaloxime Co(epNpgH)2Cl(py) contains an ethyl ester group, which allows its spectroscopic adsorption behavior to be studied on nanocrystalline titanium dioxide thin films. This analysis revealed an adsorption constant of 5.02 × 104. © 2025 Wiley-VCH GmbH.
