Ethics and morals in higher education. A bibliometric review Ética y moral en la Educación Superior. Una revisión bibliométrica
Abstract
This article analyzes the scientific production on ethics and morals in higher education using bibliometric methods. For the methodological design, a bibliometric analysis was carried out on the articles indexed in Scopus, using the Bibliometrix and Rstudio libraries to analyze the data obtained, interpreting them quantitatively and qualitatively. The results show a field that has been expanding since 1967, with exponential growth since 1990, led by authors from the United States, the United Kingdom, and China, in journals specialized in ethics such as the Journal of Business Ethics and the Journal of Academic Ethics. The scientific mapping identified Ethics in Higher Education, Ethics in Research, and Morality in Higher Education as relevant topics. Spectroscopy revealed contributions related to moral development, overcoming the limits of discrimination in education, and teaching with integrity, according to Rest (1986); Hooks (1994); and Macfarlane (2004), serving as a theoretical basis for the development of a structured concept on ethics and morals. The analysis of the data reveals the exponential emergence of an academic community oriented towards the development of new knowledge through the study and application of practical methods focused on promoting ethical and moral values in higher education.
