Abstract

The objective of this article is to characterize the Failed State according to Rotberg (2004), and then to analyze the research that proposes the Failed State, interpreting them in the light of the criteria of this cited author. A descriptive methodology was used to search for articles written on the subject and published between 2018 and July 2023 in journals with Web of Science, Scopus and Scielo. Content analysis was considered for interpretation. Five articles with these characteristics were obtained, where the situation that, according to these authors, some countries face is raised and can be classified as failed states because they meet the characteristics, according to the criteria proposed by Rotberg, while others present circumstances that qualify them as weak states, hence they require strategies of change to strengthen their management and satisfy the demands of their citizens. generating social, economic and political development. © 2025 Universidad Nacional Experimental Rafael Maria Baralt.
