Abstract
Climate change and globalization have increased food insecurity, affecting the right to food and food sovereignty, linked to Sustainable Development Goal 2 Zero Hunger. This study identifies instruments to assess food insecurity and reviews studies conducted in Chile. Through a literature review, 18 instruments were found to measure food insecurity at the global, national, household and individual levels, considering six pillars. Then, six studies were selected that indicate an increase in the perception of ISA at the national level, from 30% in 2017 to 49% in 2020, being higher in households with minors and older adults. It is concluded that studies on ISA in Chile are insufficient, focusing only on access. It is necessary to expand the application of instruments and consider other pillars such as empowerment and sustainability.
