Abstract

After the first studies of union geography framed in an Anglo-Saxon regional Marxist perspective in the 80s, the labor geography in the 90s and 2000s have a huge impact analyzing the socio-spatial agency of workers, predominating the study of strong unions. Even so, the concept of trade unionism geography is dissolved, generating a paradox that has weakened updating the research agenda. Through a bibliometric analysis based on texts indexed in the Web of Science, in this article the Anglo-Saxon literature on trade unionism in geography is explored. Sub-lines of research are discovered that share two characteristics: focusing on a particular form of union geography and lacking comparisons with the precarious non-unionized worker, canceling an extended debate. It is concluded that two probable causes -interrelated- of the above are the lack of evidence from undeveloped countries and of theoretical link with the geography of capital.
