Abstract

Women's unpaid domestic and household care work is undervalued, causing an unequal distribution of time that reinforces the gender gaps. This study analyzes the time-use of women in the Coquimbo Region, the fourth most populous metropolitan area in Chile, across various daily activities. Additionally, the study analyzes women's satisfaction and perceived stress levels across different aspects of their lives. Data was collected via a questionnaire based on the National Time Use Survey (ENUT) and analyzed using descriptive statistics and a multivariate model. The findings highlight the dual burden that women face in society as they strive to balance personal and professional responsibilities. Moreover, they reveal that domestic and caregiving tasks have a significant impact on women's satisfaction and stress levels.
