Abstract

This work shows the results concerning the soiling losses in bifacial modules operating in the Solar Platform of Atacama Desert (PSDA). The characteristic parameters such as maximum power (Pmpp), short circuit current (Isc), and open circuit voltage (Voc) were obtained from monofacial and bifacial photovoltaic modules installed in a fixed structure and tilted at an angle of 20° to the north and in a Horizontal Single Axis Tracker (HSAT). The results correspond to data collected between July and December 2022. They show that the soiling losses of the fixed installations are higher than those of the HSAT. The ratio between the power generated by the PV module (Edc) and the irradiance on the module (HPOA) is between 2.3% and 6.67% difference between July and December for the soiled PV modules in the fixed installation. However, there is a percentage difference of less than 2% between July and December for the soiled PV modules in the HSAT installation.
