Abstract

This article explores the relationship between phenomenology and anthropology from the perspective of the “new French phenomenology”, with a particular focus on Jean-Luc Marion’s work. It examines how key concepts such as the adonado and the saturated phenomenon redefine human subjectivity, proposing a “negative anthropology” that emphasizes the intrinsic limitations of self-knowledge and humanity’s dependence on donation. While Marion avoids explicitly anthropological definitions, his phenomenology provides tools to explore the relationship between corporeality, community, and transcendence. The article also discusses contemporary critiques of anthropocentrism and the ethical implications of Marion’s phenomenological approach. Finally, it highlights the need for future studies to integrate his phenomenology with anthropological questions, underscoring its relevance in current philosophical debates. © 2025, Pontificia Universidad Catolica Argentina.
