Abstract
Early relational experiences are fundamental for cognitive development. However, very few studies have addressed the effect of parenting skills on children's working memory. The aim of this study was to determine the predictive capacity of bonding, formative, protective and reflective parental skills on the auditory and visual working memory of 115 6- and 7-year-old children. Correlations and linear regressions were used. The results of this research show that reflective skills predict auditory working memory while an optimal parental profile predicts visual working memory. These results confirm the impact of children's immediate environments on their cognitive development, demonstrating that structured and affective family systems improve this population's executive functions. © 2025 Revista Latinoamericana de Ciencias Sociales.
