Abstract

This research work focuses on the electromagnetic design of dual-cage induction motors for urban electric vehicles, leveraging local conditions for this purpose. Key load characteristics such as power, speed, and torque, along with mean values of supplied voltage and current, are established through simulations of the motor. Based on these variables, the sizing of four dual-cage motors is conducted, encompassing geometric measurements of the stator and rotor, an optimization of rotor slots to enhance starting characteristics, and cage material selection. To compare the proposed motors, finite element simulations are carried out, verifying the magnetic field distribution and current density from the designed models at different speeds. This comprehensive approach furnishes crucial insights to support decision-making in the design phase, evaluating the proposed motors' performance.
