Abstract
Objective: to compare the effects of eccentric training and static stretching on the muscle oxygenation hamstrings and hip range of motion kinetics in seniors basketball players. Material and methods: the sample included 21 trained men aged 69 (± 2), BMI of 26,7 (± 0,5) (kg/m2). The sample was selected by simple randomization forming a dead weight group (DW-G: n: 11) and a neuromuscular proprioceptive facilitation group (NPF-G; n: 10). The training program was carried out during 4 weeks. The analyzed variables was joint range of motion (ROM) and muscle oxygenation (MO) pre and post training. Results: ROM increases were observed in both groups, NPF group went from 74 (± 3,8) to 93,27 (± 4,3) and the DW group from 74,45 (± 3,4) to 94,18 (± 2,8). The most noticeable difference between groups is the significant increase of muscle oxygenation (%) in the DW group 63,73 (± 1,6) to 69,73 (± 1,67) (p = 0,0177) compared to the NPF group. Significant p value < 0,05. Conclusion: both groups present significant changes in terms of ROM increase; nevertheless MO was only significant in the group that performed eccentric strength training.
