Campylobacter jejuni in two groups of hens and study of antimicrobial susceptibility Campylobacter jejuni en dos grupos de gallinas y estudio de susceptibilidad antimicrobiana
Abstract
Campylobacter jejuni is a leading agent of diarrhoea being poultry one of its most important reservoirs. Bearing in mind the relationship between poultry and infection, the prevalence of C. jejuni was determined in hens from domestic farms and from one industrial farm. C. jejuni was isolated in 58.7% and 22.4%, respectively (p < 0.001). Furthermore MIC50 and MIC90 to 11 antimicrobial drugs were determined, being the strains isolated from the industrial farm more sensitive than those isolated from domestic farms. Strains isolated from both groups of hens were resistant to azthreonam (MIC ? 128 ?g/ml).
