Abstract

The synthesis, characterization, and mesomorphic properties of 6-n-decyloxy-2-(4-n-alkoxybenzylidenamino)benzothiazoles is reported. The first homologues (n = 3-5) are nematic while the upper (n = 6-10) show smectic C and nematic phases.
