Abstract

In this study, the displacement ductility response and the degradation of the global stiffness, and the first mode frequency of a panelized 2-stories CLT structure is analyzed. This behavior is studied under lateral non-reversible cyclic loads. The structure is an I-shaped 3 dimensional module composed of 10 CLT panels formed with C16 graded radiata pine laminations. For the foundation connections and the floor-to-floor connections to different setups are considered. Results suggest that the stiffness degradation is very sensitive to the friction between CLT panels, with a rapid reduction at low displacement levels. Moreover, the first mode frequency depends on the ductility demand and the yielding of joints and connectors. With regard to the ductility demand, results suggest that for a given level of global ductility demand, the maximum local ductility is around 10% to 15% higher.
