Evidencia de arsenicismo crónico en momias del valle Camarones. Región Tarapacá, Chile
Abstract
The degree of chronic arsenic poisoning was measured in a group of 31 mummies (1356 AD-Post Conquest) from the Camarones Valley, Chile. The water of the valley is naturally contaminated with arsenic. Each individual was autopsied and chemical analysis of bone and soft tissue was done. The pathology was evaluated. The information obtained from this study indicates a high percentage of chronic arsenic poisoning within this population.
