Abstract

The invention relates to a method for reducing or eliminating microorganisms, preferably bacteria, from different surfaces, which comprises applying to said surface a non-ionising electromagnetic field with RF waves emitted between 0.9 and 4 GHz and a stable field with emissions between -35 and 2.5 dBm, under an environment with a relative humidity between 30 and 50% and constant ambient humidity. The surfaces can be selected from: ceilings of dwellings, floor tiles, ceramics, crockery, varnished or unvarnished wooden floors, glass and bathroom surfaces, inter alia. The bacteria are selected from bacteria of the genuses Campylobacter, Staphylococcus, Bacillus and Clostridium. Bacteria selected from the group consisting of Escherichia coli, Salmonella thypimurium and Listeria mococytogenes can also be included, as well as filamentous fungi and yeasts
