EL REY LEAR DE NICANOR PARRA DESDE UN PUNTO DE VISTA TRADUCTOLGICO: LA NATURALIZACIN
Abstract
In order to analyze King Lear written by William Shakespeare and translated by Nicanor Parra from a Translatology point of view, an applied study was con-ducted. We will focus on the translation procedure known as naturalization. Our aim is to contrast the linguistic and cultural elements between the Source and Target Text (ST-TT). To achieve the objective, we will apply a comparative analysis that focuses on the use of colloquial language elements from the native language spoken by Parra. Evidence referring that Parraâs knowledge about his own culture causes him to use the Naturalization on his translation has been found in the analysis. Parraâs work stays true to the original play in terms of the effect that causes in the audience, but in his own particular way. So, King Lear will always be Shakespeareâs and Rey Lear & Mendigo will always be Parraâs.
