Since 2015, I have demonstrated a strong commitment to developing human capital in computing, data science, and artificial intelligence through teaching, mentoring, and program development. At Universidad Católica del Norte (UCN), I have taught numerous courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels, covering fundamental and advanced topics in computer science, data science, statistics, and data visualization.
My leadership in academic program development includes significant contributions to the establishment of UCN's Doctoral Program in Artificial Intelligence, where I presided over the design committee for a semester, before moving on to my current role as Secretary of Research and Technological Development at the Faculty of Engineering and Geological Sciences. Additionally, I supported the design and development of the original version of the Big Data graduate diploma program for continuing professional education. At the undergraduate level, I designed the "Scientific Research for Undergraduates" course in 2024 which is now being taught annually at the Department of Computing and Systems Engineering and led the development of a "Technological Development Project" course for senior engineering students across all programs within the Faculty of Engineering and Geological Sciences as part of an internally funded project by the University.
I have also supervised multiple undergraduate theses and co-supervised graduate theses, guiding students through research in areas such as artificial intelligence, data analytics, and computational narratives, as well as more traditional work such as software engineering and system analyst roles.
Finally, as Project Director of the "Artificial Intelligence Innovation Center for the Antofagasta Region" FRPD 2024 project funded by the Regional Government of Antofagasta, I am also contributing to the innovation ecosystem by bridging academic research with practical applications, creating further opportunities for student and professional development in AI technologies.
My commitment to knowledge dissemination and technology transfer extends beyond academic publications to include active engagement with both specialized and general audiences. As Director of the "Artificial Intelligence Innovation Center for the Antofagasta Region" project funded by the Regional Government of Antofagasta (FRPD 2024), I am working towards briding the gap between cutting-edge AI research and practical applications in the region. The center aims to foster collaboration between academia, industry, and government entities to develop AI solutions for regional challenges. This initiative includes specialized training programs, technology showcases, and partnerships with local industries to ensure research outcomes translate into tangible benefits for the community.
I have actively participated in the academic dissemination of research through invited talks at prestigious conferences and workshops, including being featured in "Lo Mejor de lo Nuestro" at the Jornadas Chilenas de Computación 2024 (JCC 2024) and other talks at INFONOR-Chile.
