Abstract

The Custom Power Devices provide compensation capabilities to mitigate Power Quality problems related with harmonics and reactive power. In this work, two different reactive power and dc-voltage linear control schemes are developed for the DSTATCOM. The proposed control schemes are systematically designed and finally implemented on a DSP based system. Consequently, the design procedure is carried out on the discrete-time and -frequency domain by using the linearized model of the system. Several tests are performed to probe the stability of the resulting hybrid system which is the combination of a continuous-time nonlinear topology and a discrete-time linear control scheme. The synchronization, control, and modulation algorithms were implemented using a DSP TMS 320F2812 in order to probe the feasibility of the control scheme over a low-power laboratory prototype. © 2010 IEEE.
