Abstract

The thermo-conversion of liquid and solid biomass resources is becoming one of the best alternatives for waste solids reuse in the green energy production, especially for developing countries. In the present paper a thermodynamic modelation of sugar cane bagasse gasification is carried out. Validation of these models is carried out using two biomass sources: sugar cane bagasse and rice peel. The experimental data for validation is obtained in a biomass gasification pilot plant located at the Thermal Energy Department of University of Campinas (UNICAMP). After validation a parametric study was developed to assess the effect of fuel/air ratio (0,28-0,34) and air temperature on gasifier power output, syngas composition, LHV and HHV. The air excess is calculated to guarantee the tar formation as low as possible and to maintain an adequate content of CH4 and H-2 in the gas.
