Experto en tratamiento de señales multi-sensores y problema inverso aplicados a la medición de parámetros biomédicas. Ha participado en el desarrollo de un dispositivo clínico de salud ósea basado en la medición de ondas ultrasonidos guiadas.

Formación de Capital Humano


Desde mi tesis, he tenido la oportunidad de enseñar y supervisar a estudiantes desde la Licencia hasta el Doctorado. En 2018 y 2019, durante los dos primeros años de mi presencia en la Universidad de Valparaíso (UV), tenía una carga docente completa (12 horas semanales), que luego se redujo a la mitad debido al financiamiento de un proyecto Fondecyt Regular 1201311. Durante los 5 ultimos años, fue guia o coguia de 4 tesis, 2 postdocs y 7 estudiantes de pregrado.


Difusión y Transferencia


Participé en la redacción de tres patentes y en la creación de la empresa Azalée cuyo objetivo es desarrollar un prototipo para la medición clínica del hueso cortical utilizando ondas guiadas ultrasonido. El prototipo ha sido probado con éxito en dos estudios clínicos, en Francia y en Alemania. Está en uso en el Imperial College (Londres) y en Chile.

He tenido la oportunidad de liderar proyectos de investigación incluido el proyecto de cooperación industrial con Azalée y proyectos de cooperación internacional con China y Chile. Actualmente estoy involucrado en la organización de dos doctorados (Doctorado en Ingeniería Informática Aplicada y Doctorado en Ciencias e Ingeniería para la Salud), el Centro de Investigación y Desarrollo en Ingeniería en Salud (UV), un sociedad académica (The International Bone Ultrasound Society) y la organización de dos congresos internacionales, IEEE LAUS, el primer congreso latinoamericano de ultrasonidos y QMSKI ISUCB y sobre el uso de ultrasonidos par el estudio de los huesos.
