Best Paper Award
ECOLE POLYTECHNIQUE FEDERALE DE LAUSANNE
Suiza, 2014
140 experts took part in the 2014 Annual Conference of the SCCER-FURIES. In the frame of this event, young scientists exhibited their work in 31 posters, providing an illustrative overview of the 2014 activities of their groups undertaken under the umbrella of the SCCER-FURIES. For the acknowledgement of this contribution, a Best Poster competition was held. The Selection Committee was consisting of experts from the private sector, namely Dr. Martin Naef (Head of Automation Department at ABB SA), Dr. Fabrizio Marzolini (Director of the Development of Energy Storage Systems at Leclanché SA) and Dr. Arnoud Bifrare (Director of the Control Systems of the Grid), and the public sector, namely Dr. Walter Steinlin (President of the Commission for Technology and Innovation). The Selection Committee evaluated all the posters based on their originality and applicability of the research, and the clearance of the message in the poster itself. While the Selection Committee acknowledged the high-level of the work undertaken by all the group. The PhD student Lorenzo Reyes (leading author for "A composable method for real-time control of active distribution networks with explicit power set points. Part II: Implementation and validation"), obtained the conference best poster award.

EPFL Seed Money Program
ECOLE POLYTECHNIQUE FEDERALE DE LAUSANNE
Chile, 2015
The project aims at contributing to the development of a Smart Grid demonstration facility at the campus-level in Austral University, by learning from the EPFL’s experience. The output of this cooperation is the design, modelling and simulation of the Smart Grid concept to be deployed in the Austral University. This is the first step of a larger project aiming on the real deployment of such a system, which is divided in three stages: smart metering, distributed energy resources and automatic control, all where EPFL has large experience.
