Líneas de Investigación

My research has addressed questions related to the ecology of viruses and bacteria in extreme environments, and anthropogenically impacted sites to understand their biological function and the consequences of their interactions.

Difusión y Transferencia

Antarctic science outreach, 2015-2016.
An essential part of our labor as scientists is communicating our research and its importance to society. This is even more relevant if our audience is the future generations, so when EXPLORA invited me to participate in the third and fourth "Encuentro de Científic@s Polares," I accepted enthusiastically. During my participation in both meetings (2015-2016) not only I had the opportunity to tell my personal experience as a scientist during fieldwork in Antarctica, but also to talk about the Antarctic science that is done in the laboratory of Dr. Beatriz Díez where I completed my doctorate. In these meetings, I discovered that simple stories can take-out the scientist inside by feeding the imagination of children and adolescents.
The ability to communicate scientific work is relevant to this postdoctoral project since it will address topics that are of interest to society, such as Ocean Acidification, Climate Change, and endangered unique environments. Therefore, being able to deliver the knowledge that we would generate to society is of vital importance for citizen action, conservation, and environmental policy.
