Formación de Capital Humano


PhD and a Master’s degree in Public Health from the Federal University of Ceará (Universidade Federal do Ceará, UFC), Brazil, and a Bachelor’s and Professional Degree in Sociology from the University of Concepción (Universidad de Concepción, UdeC), Chile.
He specializes in Infectious Disease Epidemiology, with a research focus on integrated biobehavioral studies of HIV, syphilis, hepatitis B and C, and tuberculosis among key populations in Latin America and the Caribbean and sub-Saharan Africa. His research experience also includes urban arboviruses among socially vulnerable populations, as well as studies on maternal and child health and non-communicable chronic diseases among Indigenous populations in Latin America and the Caribbean.
He has participated in research supported by the Brazilian Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) and is a CAPES B-2 researcher. His methodological expertise includes biobehavioral surveillance, respondent-driven sampling (RDS), epidemiological studies of hard-to-reach populations, and the analysis of social and structural determinants of infectious diseases.
He is currently an Academic and Researcher at the Center for Research in High-Altitude Medicine (Centro de Investigación en Medicina de Altura – CEIMA) and the School of Medicine at Universidad Arturo Prat (UNAP), Chile.
