As a professor at the Department of Psychology of the University of Chile (UCH), I have guided the following thesis:
-6 PhD thesis graduates in the last 4 years
-8 Master's thesis graduated in the last 4 years
-9 Undergraduate theses graduated in the last 4 years
- Research:
I have studied issues of social vulnerability, education and intervention models in relation to socio-natural disasters. Mainly when I was awarded as the responsible researcher of Núcleo Milenio 10022, Center for Research in Vulnerabilities and Socionatural Disasters. I carried out qualitative studies, social interventions and surveys in localities. My work themes were: family coping strategies in case of displacement; community knowledge for resilience and its forms of transmission; the vulnerabilities and capacities of the educational communities; politicization and non-politicization of the communities in the reconstruction. I also participated as co-investigator of Fondecyt projects (N 1140930, Subjectivities in the social transformation of Chile) and funds of the Ministry of Social Development (Systematization of experiences of social intervention in the Atacama disaster 2016). In regions, I have developed consulting studies, as head of the project "Building learning on the DRR experience of San Felipe and Talca" for the Caritas Chile Foundation, and "Experiences, appraisals and projections of children in social and environmental contexts affected in the Valparaíso region", for Fundación Superación Pobreza, both in 2014, to this is added the study of the functioning of the National System of Civil Protection in the "National update of guides and protocols of response to emergencies and disasters in the health system" for the Ministery of Health.
- Institutional management:
I have worked at the UCH as Research Director of the Faculty of Social Sciences (FACSO), Vice President of the Research Ethics Committee at FACSO, Alternate Director of the Social Sciences Revitalization Project - CJGM Bicentennial Initiative.
- Management of interdisciplinary teams:
I have participated as co-researcher of the project “U- Networks :Risk Management in Disasters” (UCH funds) and “U-Initiation Networks: Interuniversity Platform for the Development of Atacama Region”, integrating the University of Atacama. I have created international networks around studies, such as “The 3 drawings test for the diagnosis of childhood traumas in the context of earthwake” (Università Cattolica del SacroCuore, Italy).
- Links with public policies:
Through the Commission for Resilience against Natural Disasters, convened by the National Council for Innovation for Development (CNID), with active participation in the drafting of the R & D & I Strategy delivered to the Presidency. I was also reviewer of the Strategy of the CNID, "Sciences, Technologies and Innovation for a New Pact of Sustainable Development", delivered to the Presidency. I am currently a member of the Directive Board of the Executive Technological Institute dedicated to R + D + i for Resilience in Disasters of Natural Origin (Project CORFO 16ITPS-67551).
-Link with society:
Among other activities, I have been a co-researcher in 3 competitive projects of Fondo Valentín Letelier, in Atacama (local knowledge), Chaitén (education) and Paredones (childhood). I designed and coordinated a public on-line course.
-Diffusion
I have been invited as a keynote speaker by the National Council of Culture and Arts, the University of Bologna, the ISFOL Development Institute (Rome), among others. I have been part of 5 editorial committees and published 19 articles, chapters and books with international editorial committee in the last 10 years.
In addition, I was awarded as Best Teacher 2010 and obtained the Recognition for Research, Creation and Innovation 2017.
At the moment, I carry out all these competences as Director of Public Engagement-Outreach of the CITRID Program (UCH).
