I have had under my supervision 6 master students and 10 undergraduates students who worked with me in their thesis and in the "Introduction to research course". All of my students have been trained in data analysis for cosmological observables, building a clear vision of Bayesian Statistic and likelihood analysis.
I always encouraged my students to take parallel courses in statistical methods and lately in Machine learning process in order to create an entire group at the department of physics devoted to such aspect of science. The main idea is to develop an entire likelihood code for the galaxy clustering observable for matter power spectrum to be used to analyze the data coming from future experiments, such as Euclid and LSST, in which I am member in both consortia.
The students manifested a great enthusiasm in data analysis and sophisticated statistical methods, probably motivated by the increasing interest in both science and enterprises. In fact, my main idea is to give all the possible knowledge needed in order to help them choose their proper careers, and, not to mention, to be prepared to the new upcoming era of cosmology in which we are in need of more sophisticated, and faster, methods to analyze the future catalogs.
The department of physics of the Universidad de Chile and the Conicyt itself encourage the outreach program.
I have been dedicating time to the transfer of knowledge, participating to public seminars and appearing directly to medias (radio, television, blogs...) in order to make Cosmology understandable and hence attractive to the audience. I have myself forced to give a minimum of at least four outreach seminars per year.
I will continue dedicating my time on reaching people, creating short videos and demonstrations of the physical phenomena. At the moment, we are discussing with the Social media and Data Lab group, here at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Chile, in order to make demonstrations of the physical phenomena that drive the Universe. The main idea is to prepare ourselves to explain with classical experiment the acceleration of the universe and formation of structures.
