Formación de Capital Humano

I have participated as a teacher of laboratory of “Ingeniería Genética y Biotecnología Vegetal” course for undergrad students. This allowed me to develop different and complementary skills to laboratory work, such as teaching plant molecular biology, communication of scientific topics, planning experimental activities for educational purposes and the organization of students to help them in their learning processes.
Additionally, I have had the opportunity to participate in science communication workshops, having the possibility of bringing it closer to general public. These workshops (Tercer ciclo de talleres “Vive la ciencia, comunícala”) de were organized by the “Centro Para la Comunicación de la Ciencia” UNAB and consisted in practical works for third- and fourth-year students from different schools in the metropolitan region in which they performed detection of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) in different food samples. This experience was very gratifying not only because of the type of workshop carried out but also because of the importance that it has that we, as scientists, can communicate our discoveries to a non-scientific public in order to contribute to the collective construction of knowledge.
