This award honors the dissertation completed in the College of Education [at the University of Washington] deemed to be most deserving according to these criteria: [a] an original and significant contribution to the understanding of some aspect of education; [b] lucid and concise in its aims, procedures for analysis, and conclusions; [c] skillfully linked with the relevant research in the field; [d] intelligent use of appropriate sources, instruments, and authority; and [e] written in clear and graceful prose.
