Dr. Jorge Vásquez has consistently contributed to the formation of advanced human capital through an integrated approach that combines academic excellence, applied research, and real-world technological development. His training philosophy is centered on project-based learning, where students actively engage in the design, implementation, and validation of AI-driven systems in domains such as robotics, computer vision, and autonomous inspection.
He has supervised and mentored undergraduate and graduate students in topics including reinforcement learning, intelligent perception, simulation, and robotic systems, fostering their ability to address complex engineering challenges. Several of these efforts have led to scientific publications, prototypes, and technology transfer initiatives in collaboration with industry partners.
As part of his academic role at Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez and his leadership in the Physical AI Lab, Dr. Vásquez promotes interdisciplinary training that integrates artificial intelligence, systems engineering, and domain-specific applications in sectors such as mining, infrastructure, and energy. His approach emphasizes the full development cycle of intelligent systems, from theoretical foundations to deployment in operational environments.
In addition, he has played a key role in bridging academia, industry, and the public sector, enabling students and young researchers to participate in applied R\&D projects with tangible impact. This includes collaborations with companies and institutions in Chile, where trainees gain exposure to real constraints, data, and decision-making processes.
Through these activities, Dr. Vásquez contributes to strengthening Chile’s capabilities in emerging areas such as Physical AI, preparing a new generation of engineers and researchers capable of developing scalable, robust, and impactful technological solutions.
Dr. Jorge Vásquez has developed a strong and consistent track record in the dissemination and transfer of research results, combining scientific production with the deployment of real-world technological solutions across defense, infrastructure, and industrial domains.
