Since 2006 I have been a professor at the Institute of Urban and Territorial Studies of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, teaching courses both in the Urban Planning undergraduate program and in postgraduate programs. In the last 5 years I have directed about 20 postgraduate theses.
In 2007 and 2010 I was Director of the Governance of Territorial Management Diploma of which 27 students graduated.
I am currently Director of the Integrated Urban Planning and Management Diploma, which in its 2018 version has 35 students from public and private sectors. I am also a Director of the Management of Metropolitan Areas Diploma whose first version was given in 2017 for 35 officials of the Regional Governments of the Metropolitan Region, Coquimbo, Los Lagos and Bío Bío, resulting in a Metropolitan Agenda for the respective pilot regions.
In the last 5 years I have been Director and teacher of urban development and management courses for public officials from the Ministry of Public Works, Internal Tax Services and Regional Governments.
One of the projects that I have directed since 2008 is the Urban Life Quality Index (ICVU) which, year after year, delivers results for 93 communes in the country where 78.6% of the population lives, measuring and comparing inequality gaps in six dimensions of quality of urban life. This work is carried out in collaboration with the Studies Management of the Chilean Chamber of Construction (main guild of real estate and construction companies of our country) through a CCHC-Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile agreement, achieving the results of this work each year are of interest in all areas of Chilean society; public sector, private sector, academia and research centers, NGOs and other types of civil society organizations. Pos delivery of results in the month of May of each year, appear throughout the country over 300 notes in print, radio and television on the ICVU contributing in all areas of national debate, especially regarding urban quality of life in metropolitan cities consolidated as emerging.
Additionally, after delivering the results, we traveled to many of the communes studied to discuss the results and possibilities of urban management. With that purpose, we have held meetings with the public sector, private sector and civil society of the communes under study.
