Within the framework of the 26th Anniversary of the Faculty of Engineering of the Catholic University of the Most Holy Conception (UCSC), the researcher of the Research Center in Mathematical Engineering, CI²MA, of the University of Concepción, Dra. Jessika Camaño, was recognized, by virtue of her scientific productivity during 2017, as the best researcher of the School of Engineering of UCSC.

Within the context of the 25th Anniversary of the Faculty of Engineering of the Universidad Católica de la Santísima Concepción, which was held during the last days of August, the researcher of the Center for Research in Mathematical Engineering, CI²MA, University of Concepción, Jessika Camaño, was recognized as the best evaluated academician of the ordinary faculty of the Department of Applied Mathematics and Physics, according to a survey subscribed by the students each semester. "It is an important recognition for me. During the time that I have been at UCSC I have been concerned to make the best of my work, in particular, to try to do a good teaching and improve day after day. I think the students have realized this and today they are recognizing it with this award".

To commemorate this, the university inaugurated the recognition hall “Women Driving Science and Knowledge at UCSC,” located outside its Central Library, which highlights the valuable contributions of these women in their respective fields. One of the honorees is Dr. Jessika Camaño Valenzuela, a faculty member in the Department of Applied Physics and Mathematics in the Faculty of Engineering at UCSC and a researcher at the Center for Mathematical Modeling (CMM) at the University of Chile.

Scientists from the University of Concepción, University of Bío-Bío, Universidad Católica de la Santísima Concepción, Universidad Andrés Bello, and Universidad San Sebastián were at the center of a special event honoring their contributions to the region. The Regional Ministry of Science for the South-Central Macrozone recognized outstanding women researchers from the regions of O'Higgins, Maule, Ñuble, and Biobío as a way to promote gender equality in research and to highlight the work of women conducting scientific research.
